So the first newsletter of 2011 is longer than average but we are sure you will find something to grab your attention so read on......

John Jenkins January releases

membership packIt is the time of year for John Jenkins to announce the new Collectors Club membership figure. The club has proved very successful and Mark and David think with this years membership deal that success can only grow.. As you can see from the photo, as well as a figure, you also get a calender and an annual and product list so you can keep fully up to date with John Jenkins releases. It really is an invaluable tool for the dedicated collector.
Ranger Charles JenkinsAn added bonus this year is that you have a choice of two figures. ADC Lt William Jenkins- Worth. Ranger Charles Jenkins deal is £35 and adds to your French Indian War collection. He is a beautiful figure with his musket cradled in his arm. The second choice figure is mounted and from the 1812 range. The ADC William Jenkins-Worth is only £65 and would stand perfectly next to your US Staff Officer (USCH11).

To become a member for 2011 you only need to buy one of these figures but you can buy both if you wish.

Now lets move onto the regular monthly release. The Spanish Civil War, Tichonderoga, The Sudan, The Jacobites and the War of 1812 are all added to this month- John has been very busy.

PZ 1B tankThe Spanish Civil War sees another tank and two standing crew added to the rangetank commander A
The PZ1B tank is the second armoured release and belongs to the same unit as the earlier released PZ1A. John brought a sample to the December London show and it was another very impressive model. There will be another tank released soon to finish off the unit and they will make a spectacular display.

The two figures released this month are both tank commanders for the tanks. These both retail at £20 and will make a great addition to the tanks.

2 Highlanders standing The new Sudan box this month is two Highlanders standing. GDH-07 is another set adding to a range on which we have said all we can in previous newsletters- they are just wonderful. The Highlanders are now up to 14 unique figures. When the Mardists arrive it will be impossible to resist so why not start collecting now!
They are still only £45 a box so represent some of the best value in the Toy Soldier hobby.

The final three releases are
JR21 JR21 is the latest Jacobite figure from John Jenkins and is a Highlander attacking. This figure is limited to just a 500 run so make sure you pick it up in time before it runs out. This range is proving to be very popular so for just £25 you can make sure you keep your collection complete. TIC08 TIC08 adds another two figure set to John's latest French Indian war range. There is now 8 different figures for you to make up the 42nd regiment of Foot so the display options are already very big. The set is again only £50 so represents great value.USCHART03 Finally this month from John, we have USCHART03 US artillery crew firing. This is a three figure set and now gives you the choice to display your US battery of guns loading or firing. Imagine the counter battery fire diorama you can set up between the US 8pdr battery and the British 6 or 24pdr batteries. Spectacular!

First Legion January releases

First Legion January releases are full of highlights and quality. The long awaited French Cuirassier finally arrive as well as the British Infantry for the American Revolution range along with more additions to the popular Crusaders range.

The Cuirassier release has been promised for a long time now and at long last here they are. 9 figures represent the 5th Cuirassier at the Battle of Waterloo. The set includes an officer, Standard Bearer, Trumpeter and a wonderful set of a wounded trooper on the floor next to his dead horse. This really makes a great set and displayed alongside the Carabineers will make an amazing diorama. We think they have been well worth the wait.

First Legion are also supplying their latest Napoleonic Personality-General Dorsenne- Commander of the Imperial Guard Grenadiers. The whole series of Personalities have been tremendously popular because of their imagination and quality. If you are thinking of dipping your toe in the First Legion universe you couldn't go wrong with this figure.

Last year we saw the release of the American Militia for the American Revolution range. These are beautiful figures and now we see the arrival of their opponents- the British 5th Regiment of Foot.

There are nineteen figures in total. There is every opportunity to create the famous thin red line as they advance against American Militia. We have had alot of interest in these figures and we think they don't disappoint.

CRU023The final releases this month from First Legion are more of the wonderful crusaders. Another seven codes now take the range to 23 codes. These new releases are just as beautiful as the other 16 codes and we are sure they will prove to be as popular as the others.
David made a wall display for them at this Decembers Toy Soldier Show. It proved to be very popular so if you want one please contact David

Also, keep an eye on the First Legion New release page this month as it looks like we may see the first of the Marmalukes. This Crusader range is going from strength to strength. Why not make your new years resolution to start collecting this wonderful range.

Collectors Showcase January releases

World War Two, Napoleonic and ACW are all covered by new releases this month.
CS00468, M20 command carWorld War Two sees a total of nine different armoured fighting vehicles models. Eight of them are King Tigers in various forms and the lone allied vehicle is Patton's own M20 command car. You get two figures as well as the vehicle and at only £135 this makes a great addition to your vehicle collection. This is one of David's favourite vehicles as he loves the light recon vehicles that were used during the war.

CS00457,King Tiger with Porche turretThe eight King Tiger tanks cover various models and theatre's of the war. The King Tiger had two turret versions- the Porche and the Henschel models and both are covered in this release. They are also available with or without Zimmerett armour and in Normandy or winter versions- eight different models in total. These are superb recreations of one of the most formidable tanks of World War Two and at only £145 they are amazing value for money.
Don't forget, as with nearly all Collectors Showcase tanks you get a damaged track piece to add to the possible variety of dioramas you can set up with them.

The American Civil War range sees the introduction of more artillery. Following on from the last release of Confederate artillery we now have the Union with their Napoleon guns. Maybe we will see some rifled guns in the future.

CS00445USCS00445USDCS00451CS00452

This is a very imaginative set again that includes a damaged gun and the usual selection of crew. The confederate artillery proved very popular and we are sure the Union will prove to be the same.

CS00487Finally, this month we see the release of the French Old Guard Grenadiers. There are 14 figures in total in this release. They are of the usual high quality and imagination we come to expect from Collectors Showcase. CS00483The two most unusual sets are the sapper( a new one for Collectors Showcase we think)and a wounded soldier being supported by his friend. The range comes in a set of three (the command) some sets of two and some of just single figures so we are sure you can find something that will fit your budget.

That is it for this month. Didn't we promise you would find something that interested you! Please get in touch with us if you want anything or all of the above codes are on the web site if you want to order on line.
Have a good January and look out for the next newsletter in February.
